Ruth Norgaard, BScPT, graduated in 2004 from the University of British Columbia. Ms. Norgaard has since pursued post graduate studies in manual therapy through the Canadian Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physical Therapy Association, completing the Level 3 courses in both Lower and Upper Quadrants. Further studies that inform her practice are the Thoracic Ring Approach- Connect™ (LJLEE) Parts 1-4 and the Integrated Systems Model for Disability & Pain (LEE & LEE), both of which consider the whole body in assessment and treatment.

Further training included courses in Neurodynamics, the Mulligan and McKenzie approaches, Cranial Dysfunction in Manual Therapy (KILLENS), myofacial release techniques, breathing (altered breathing patterns due to injury and pain), and taping for myofacial retraining and neuro-feedback .

Ruth believes in the importance of taking a thorough history and looking at the whole body so as not to miss any underlying contributors to your concern. Treatment will include manual therapy techniques, exercise prescription that is specific to you, and education so you understand your injury and recovery. Her interests are broad, having treated a wide range of clients of all ages from acute injuries to chronic and recurrent pain. She also has experience with Vertigo, TMJ, headaches, and pre and post operative care inclusive of abdominal surgeries.

Prior to embarking on her current career as a physical therapist, Ruth enjoyed a successful and extensive professional dance career. Her background provides a high level of expertise in movement and the technique required to dance. She is always happy to treat her fellow dance enthusiasts.

Ruth is a current member of both the Provincial and National associations of Physical Therapy and welcomes all patients whether Private, WorksafeBC, or ICBC.

I appreciated the way you explained how the muscles worked and showed me them graphically on the computer screen. My back feels 100% better after following your explicit instructions. I religiously did the five things that you told me would help alleviate my lower back pain. The only thing I haven’t done is get a new dog but that is in the works.

Thankfully yours,
